Field Trip Friday: 41 Cooper Square

The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art’s new academic building, 41 Cooper Square, opened to students just last week. Designed by Thom Mayne, principal of the Los Angeles firm Morphosis, the building has received a lot of press, including this piece in The New York Times. During our tour we were even asked to pose in a few photo shoots of the new space!

Emmy Mickelson led OHNY staff on a tour through the building, including the new Rose Auditorium. Since classes are now in session, students have been streaming in and out of the building. Seeing the space in action and in use by students and faculty has changed the feeling of the space, Emmy told us. Now the building truly conveys its academic purpose.

OHNY will be hosting a benefit event in the space, to kick off the 7th Annual OHNY Weekend, in early October. Look for the announcement next week! To receive our e-newsletters, send your contact info to info@ohny.org.
